Hello!
GLP1 updates!
TLDR (too long didn't read):
1) I want SelfPayMD to beat GoodRx's and Ro's pricing.
2) We will attempt to complete prior authorizations for insurance coverage if you upload the pre-screener form through the patient portal
3) you will receive multiple refills but follow up visits are required to get further refills so we can document safety and progress.
More details:
I've looked around and see that GoodRx is advertising the cheapest follow up medical supervision for GLP1s at $39/month. I want SelfPayMD.com to beat the GoodRx price, at least on average -- They charge $39 every month, SelfPayMD only charges when you are seen for follow up for visits, no subscriptions. Right now visits are $39/first visit, $89 for follow ups. If you have been seen within the last 12 months and the price increases in the future you will be grandfathered in and the original pricing will be honored from when you signed up- I record this right in the EMR so there is no question about when you were seen or if you were seen.
Florida requires follow up visits every 3 months so I have to advertise that 3 month follow ups are required but in reality I am very flexible providing you are doing well and have no major side effects. I usually send multiple refills so you DO NOT need to follow up at a paid visit every month.
Despite what I have said before, I'm going to try and complete prior authorizations for you *IF* you upload the pre-screener form to your chart before your visit and if your pharmacy sends the prior authorization through CoverMyMeds (which most pharmacies do). eFax for prior authorizations: (301) 850-1161
Fill out the pre-screener using Adobe Acrobat if you can so your BMI is ready to go into the prior auth. The pre-screener form is on this page: https://selfpaymd.com/selfpaymd-weight-loss
If you meet criteria and are approved for Wegovy, Zepbound, or Foundayo I will send the prescription to any pharmacy you choose. Most pharmacies have the same pricing now so it doesn't change as much as it used to when you shop around.
Amazon delivers right to your door and they automatically honor the manufacturer's coupons if you aren't covered by insurance, but the choice is yours where you want the prescriptions sent.
Labwork prior to GLP1 use is recommended for your safety. You can self report AST/ALT/BUN/creatinine/TSH from your own primary care doctor's patient portal, or you can self order these labs at LabCorp/Quest or we can provide a generic lab form you can take to a local lab.
Follow up- All I ask is that you make a follow up appointment BEFORE your refills run out so you don't have a gap in treatment and don't have to scramble last minute to get in.
I worked for the big companies and now I am bringing a better value to you directly, no need to pay venture capital a monthly subscription fee!
Bring your questions to your appointment and we will work out any concerns during your visit. To better health!

Hims&Hers Update
I think HH is getting pressure from GoodRx and Ro on the subscription membership pricing structure.
Up until yesterday I believe they were asking all patients to pay $149/month for the membership fee.
Today for the first time I saw a patient ask for a discount for a longer term and they were quoted
$357 upfront (equivalent to $119 / month) for quarterly (3M) supply
$444 upfront (equivalent to $74 / month) for semi-annual (6M) supply
$888 upfront (equivalent to $74 / month) for annual (12M) supply
I wish they would not call the membership "supply" because patients keep interpreting this to mean medication supply, but in any event, they are lowering the membership fees if you sign up for a longer term. Still expensive but not as expensive as before.
I've already gotten in trouble for self promotion so I will end the update here.
Hims&Hers Update-- If You Are In A Grandfathered Compounded Semaglutide Plan
I've seen this happen several times to patients so please be aware-- if you are in a compounded semaglutide plan that is in the old grandfathered pricing structure be very sure you want to cancel it because they will NOT reinstate it, no matter the circumstances.
Just today I had a patient where customer support told them they could get oral Wegovy but it turns out they had gastric sleeve surgery in the past so they were not eligible. Patient requested that their grandfathered compounded semaglutide plan be reinstated and support said it cannot be done. The patient was understandably very upset. I have also seen this happen for other reasons, like pausing the deliveries too much or other minor changes to their treatment plan.
Long story short, if you have a grandfathered plan and want to keep that pricing don't touch a thing and make sure to keep your payments current. I get the feeling HH will cancel you whenever they can and they are not flexible about reinstating you. I hope this PSA helps someone out there avoid this unexpected surprise.
